Little Black Dress Workout!

The Worst Celebrity Diet Trends of 2007

In the past year we saw our fair share of celebrity Meltdowns, visits to rehab, brief stints in jail, healthy celebrity bodies and unhealthy celebrity bodies. To sum it all up, here are the top five WORST celebrity news making trends of 2007 we hope to say goodbye to.

5. Celebrities admitting to an eating disorder to get publicity. Britney admitted that she battled bulimia. Paris Hilton apparently wrote in a journal that was sold during an auction from a storage locker she had forgotten about. Brittany Snow told People magazine she too battled an eating disorder. Courtney Love also admitted she had an eating disorder, as did Marcia Brady, Amy Winehouse (which problem that is we aren't sure but I'm going to guess she has more than one related to weight and drugs.) Hillary Duff admitted she almost had a disorder before her sister confronted her. There are more, many more. The only reason I'm including this is because real people have these problems. They talk about their weight loss is a tragic way, but at the end it's like, I am where I am today in this industry because I lost weight to get jobs, and now that I'm a working actor, I can choose my roles instead of losing weight to fit whatever I can get. Other celebrities admit their past problems to get an article in People to raise their profile. If you had a problem, keep it to yourself. We are well aware of the weight issues in Hollywood, we don't need them to be glamorized.

4. Curvy Celebrities who Embrace their curves and Then Go On Diets.
There has been this movement in Hollywood where heavier actresses and singers are being praised for not conforming to the stick thin Hollywood norm. They even have their own section in fashion magazines after awards shows, "Full Bodied Beauties!" Queen Latifah praised her 200-lb plus weight but wouldn't admit the actual number. A couple months later she signed on as a Jenny Craig spokeswoman. Lilly Allen blogged on her MySpace about how she hated how people were calling her fat. She wasn't fat, but she ranted and raved about how she refused to cave in to the pressure to be thin like other famous celebrities. Guess who recently lost weight... Lilly Allen! I'm keeping a watch on America Ferrera and Jennifer Hudson who are the next to succumb to the pressure. Please don't but please stop giving interviews and labeling yourself as a heavy role model for girls to look up to. NOTE TO JOURNALISTS: Start asking questions about their talents instead of how they feel about this label they were given.

3. Photoshop Scandals!!!
First there was Faith Hill. Redbook was severely scrutinized for making Hill look younger, leaner and MUCH better for their cover in early summer. The images were plastered all over the internet, and bloggers were up in arms. Women's magazines create an unattainable image for women to live up to through their articles. "How To Please Your Man" or "Look Leaner in 10 Minutes" or "How To perfect your life," but they all give tips on how we can be perfect. Truth is, we aren't. No one is. I used to think Britney Spears was perfect, but that was in 8th grade. Why do these naturally beautiful women need to be altered for perfection? Faith Hill is gorgeoous. Shape magazine touches up every cover and they promote health and wellness. Seriously, give it a rest. Wear more flattering clothes or find different models if you are not satisfied.

2. Celebrities Blogging About Health
Don't you just love an honest celebrity who has no censor? This past year John Mayer shared with us his food diary. Did anyone seriously care? It was a joke I understand, but totally unnecessary. Lilly Allen as I mentioned above posted this:
I used to pride myself on being strong minded and not being some stupid girl obsessed with the way I look . I felt like it didnt matter if I was a bit chubby cause , im not a model , I'm a singer . Im afraid I am not strong and have fallen victim to the evil machine . I write to you in a sea of tears from my hotel bed in Seattle , I have spent the past hour researching gastric bypass surgery , and laser lipo suction.”

The most recent and one of the most publicized was Jennifer Love Hewitt's fight back against some unflattering photo's taken of her in a bikini. She retaliated by posting a blog saying that a size 2 was not fat. I got mad and wrote my own blog about how I knew a size 2 wasn't fat, but she clearly is not a size 2 so why not use her actual pants size like a 4 or 6. If you've got something to say, do what they did in the old days, shut up. Stop adding fuel to the fire because you look like a jackass, cough cough Lily Allen, when you all of a sudden decide to lose weight.

#1. Say it loud and say it proud with me... TYRA BANKS!
Yes a person is my number one worst celebrity diet news story of the year. The self absorbed TV Talk Show Host/Former Model/Big Girls Spokeswoman made headlines when she fought back against photo's taken of her in a bikini. Yes, Tyra gained weight. Yes, she didn't look good. But where there's a will there's a way. Tyra turned the story into a full out women's movement. She marched onto her show in a bikini and uttered the now famous words, "Kiss my fat ass!" Well Tyra, your message was heard loud and clear however it was lost in translation. Everyone began making fun of her stint and trying to gather up all the big girls to revolt against this thin image we've been pressed to believe is what we should all look like in order to be beautiful. Not so Tyra. We know we don't need to be very thin. But you are a model, and you pretty much do.

I'll leave you with this thought: When I say America Ferrera, what comes to mind? Ugly Betty perhaps? When I say Queen Latifah, what do you first think? Same goes for any Hollywood lady who is not the standard size 2, these women want to be known for their talent, their jobs, and probably their great personality but everytime they get interviewed they are asked about their image. They didn't ask to be put in this Women With Curves category. We put them in it. Lets move forward in 2008 and hope we never have to read a question being asked to Queen Latifah like this again, "You just finished filming Mad Money in Shreveport, La., with Katie Holmes, who always brought cupcakes and treats to the set. How did you manage to maintain your figure?"

Holiday Headlines From Celebrities and Diet

Hope everyone had a happy holiday! While you were doing last minute shopping and baking some cookies, celebrities were out in full force making ridiculous headlines. Here is a quick recap of the best (relating to diet and fitness of course!(;

-Self absorbed Tyra Banks threw her workers a lame Christmas party in New York City at Lower East Side dive bar. Reportedly the workers drank themselves silly because Tyra did not serve any food. The show recently relocated from LA to NYC. According to Janet Charlton,
Tyra arrived for a brief stop, looking like a million bucks, and said she was on her way to Italy. Before she left, she told them "I want to thank you guys for working so hard- - I have a special guest - here's Santa!" Everybody ran to Santa's big bag and found it was full of limp McDonald's cheeseburgers! Employees got cheeseburgers for Christmas! (Our source isn't sure if the higher-ups got private bonuses but the everyday people didn't.) Staffers tore open their burgers, hoping for gift certificates. Nothing.

I love how Tyra Banks had this whole girl power "Fat Ass" thing this past year and then she goes and buys her staffers McD's burgers... Just because it may be her favorite fast food joint doesn't mean the rest of her coworkers love a Big Mac. I think Tyra needs a lesson in generosity from her idol Oprah.

-The best headline of the long holiday weekend was from Us Weekly who reported an LC/Heidi Dance off! Haha. For those who are not familiar with the two names, these are the two leading ladies of hit "reality" show The Hills. While most of us were packing on the extra lb's at Holiday Parties, these two were dancing the night away burning off the extra cookies. If you read the article though it's not really a dance off.

-Lastly, my mother was given Skinny Bitch (the book) for Christmas. Anyone else receive this little gem? Seriously though, I find it ridiculous that a former modeling agent and a model who hold a masters in holistic nutrition (or something) are qualified to give such advice to millions of women. I've written about this book before but had never actually read any of the chapters. Knowing it's a PR campaign for veganism, I never had any interest. Why go there if you don't have to right? First, in my opinion the book if for women who are probably already very thin and already obsessed with eating healthy. If you are seriously overweight, this is NOT the book for you. The diet plan is WAY too extreme for the ordinary Jane who wants to lose 30 lbs. They recommend to only eat when you are starving, including a ridiculous comment that says something like, "you will love the way it feels when your stomach is empty." Isn't this like pro-anna stuff? Anyway, if you do this, most likely you will over eat. They also recommend eating only fruit for breakfast, and not too early. Again they suggest to wait until later in the morning when you are starving. This is because they believe your body needs to finish it's sleepy time cleansing or something, and eating too early may disrupt the finishing touches.

I know many of you are big fans of the biggest loser (no pun intended). Recently the top four finalists revealed what some of the biggest changes they made to their diet were. Here is what Julie (97 lbs lost) said:
“Eat breakfast. When the doctors met with us, they told us that the only thing all 18 of us had in common was that we never ate breakfast. We never got our metabolism started at the beginning of the day, and by lunchtime we were starving.”

And why people are still buying this advice?

Queen Latifah Is The New Jenny Craig Spokeswomen To Promote Health

Queen Latifah not too long ago was on the cover of People magazine embracing her curvaceous 200-pound body. I questioned the truth behind the headline.

Here is a snip it from my blog:
First, the headline is "200 LBS & Loving It!" Sure she's smiling on the cover, but when she sees what they put as the headline I doubt she will be for much longer... Seriously, I ask myself, is any woman truely loving the fact that they weigh over 200 lbs? It's to say, but does she actually feel that way? Good for her. All the power to her, but I'm thinking People magazine just wrote that as the headline and those exact words never left her tongue.

Next, I turn to read the article. "Making It Big." Seriously, I'm not joking. Was this suppose to be a pun INTENDED? In the article, Latifah won't even admit her actual weight (she says its in the 200's) but yet she is extremely happy to be there? Ahh... then why not tell us. If I feel comfortable the way I look, like when I'm exercising alot and toned, I always tell people what I weigh. In the winter when I pack on the pounds, not so much.

Well, this week guess who became the latest celebrity spokesperson for Jenny Craig? Yes the one and only Queen Latifah! Apparently she wasn't 200 lbs and loving it if she's going to join the ranks of Kirstie Alley and Valerie Bertinelli. The twosome are constantly in the media checking in on how much they have LOST, not maintained.

Here is what the press release suggested:
The Hairspray star, who has consistently celebrated her plus-size figure over the years (including a recent PEOPLE cover story), will have a “very different campaign, focused on a healthier lifestyle, not on getting onto a specific dress size,” says Parker.

If I'm correct a diet is suppose to make you lose weight right? Why would anyone sign up for Jenny Craig to just maintain their weight? I wouldn't exactly call Jenny Craig a lifestyle unless you plan on eating frozen meals in a red box for the rest of your life.

What do you guys think?

Who is Casey Aldridge?

Jamie Lynn Spears, 16, is pregnant. Yes. It has been confirmed by Jamie Lynn herself, her mother and now Nickelodeon. Wonder if she'll get to keep her job as Zoey 101? I wrote about Britney on Monday and almost started crying when I watched her newest music video. She looks empty behind her eyes. How did such a promising family take such a U-Turn? The baby's daddy is Casey Aldridge. Who is Casey Aldridge? He is 19 and he met the little spears in church apparently. He is reportedly from a small town in Mississippi. I'll keep you updated.

There have been rumors swirling of another pregnant spears for awhile now. She is 12 weeks pregnant! Where is the baby bump watch when you need it? Also there were reports in June that the couple was moving in together, looking at apartments in Valencia, California. I searched for a myspace or facebook of casey aldridge but did not have any luck. If you find one, please post it here! What the hell is wrong with this girl? Why wasn't seh on the pill given her sister's apparent fertility????

Update: I just read that on November 9th, JL Spears reportedly broke up with her Aldridge because she couldn't stand being without him (he started college). Ahhhh I think this blogger got this story completely wrong! Maybe she wanted to have an abortion or he wanted her to have one.... who knows but I think this is right around the time she must have found out.

In August, The National Enquirer got the story right, just a few months too early. They said that Jamie had a pregnancy scare. It got mama Spears all upset that she was going to throw her career away.

“Jamie seemed very stressed and couldn’t concentrate,” the insider revealed. “Lynne kept asking her what was wrong and demanded that Jamie Lynn tell her what was going on, or she wasn’t going back to work.

“Jamie Lynn started crying and told her mom the whole story - that she feared she might be pregnant. Lynne said she would take her to the doctor when they got back home to Louisiana. Then Lynne informed her ex-husband Jamie.

Lynne cautioned Jamie they had to be discreet and there was no way she was going to take their daughter to a doctor in Los Angeles, said the insider.

Britney knows that her sister has been sexually active - and has advised her to go on the pill. But little sister refused and told her… that “the pill would make her fat,” according to the insider.

“Use condoms,” Britney replied.

The advice apparently went unheeded.

When Jamie Lynn first noticed she was late, she confised only in Britney and did not want to tell her mom Lynne, according to a friend of the teen…

“Lynne is furious that Jamie Lynn told Britney first and not her,” said the insider…

Strangely, a distraught Lynne and her ex-husband Jamie sought counsel from an unlikely source - Britney’s estranged husband Kevin Federline, who has two children out of wedlock.

The couple met with K-Fed at his Los Angeles home the weekend of July 14, according to the insider…

“Lynne told Kevin that Jamie Lynn could just be stressed out and that she doesn’t have regular periods.

“Kevin couldn’t believe Lynne and her ex-husband were venting in his living room.”

Tara Reid Gets Drunk and Gets A Boo Boo, plus Gossip from The Hills!

Apparently after quite some time away from the eye of the paparazzi Tara Reid has stepped out in bathing suit to reveal her skeleton. The yo-yo dieter seems to have shrunk down to her tiniest size ever.

These pictures were posted over the internet the past few days. Today there is an article in the NY Daily News saying she like, fell over or something in Indonesia. The actress suffered a few cuts and bruises while out partying in Bali. Perhaps her old ways have not changed and she has yet to adjust her drinking habits with her new weight? Lay off the booze Tara.

What does she do these days anyway?

FABULOUS GOSSIP OF THE DAY: There are rumors that Kristin Cavalerri may join the cast of The Hills next season. THEY better do this. If they do not, ratings for the hills are going to plummet with the news in regards to the plotting of the story lines. Is it real you wonder? NO! What reality shows have a problem every episode that is sort of resolved by the end of the 30 minutes, but still has an underlying story line all season that is resolved in the season finale?! If Kristin join, A) we know it's fake, and B) I will watch again, and watch with pleasure. TEAM KRISTIN!

Britney aka Unfitney has a new music video from her most recent album, appropriately titled "Black out." However, instead of losing weight in an unhealthy fashion like most celebrities would do, she didn't have to diet for one minute to get a hot bod. How you ask? Simply by having a little photoshop magic do the slimming for her.

MTV debuted the music video "Piece of Me," on Friday night (Dec 14th) at 11 PM. Then Saturday the 15th around 10 AM, Perez Hilton (my least favorite blogger) posted a link to view some footage from the music video with a Britney who looked much larger than the empty eyed blonde who seemed quite svelte in the final version of the video.

As a former die-hard spears fan, I almost found myself brought to tears watching this. I legit like the cd. I like her music. It's fun to get ready to before going out for the night. However, when I listen to it, I have to make a mental note that the singer is not the same person I see on the tv every night between 7 and 8 PM. She is seriously going to kill herself.

The video looks like they didn't even hire a choreographer, and this is a song that could be (could have been?) a major club hit! She looks like I did in a home video of a ballet recital. I just went up on stage and made up my dance as I went along. Here and there I knew I wanted to leap, but no I didn't really have a game plan. I think this is what Britney did. I was in first grade. She might be on too many drugs. She just had an empty look on her eyes.

DIET TALK: Why didn't Brit at least attempt to lift a few weights before the shoot? Two pilates classes will give you stomach a little definition if your the least bit in shape. Also, why does she keep insisting on wearing next to nothing? If she is insecure about her weight, then wear a shirt that covers your bellybutton! Seriously, I don't wear shirts like that nor do I own one. If she wants to edit her video to look slimmer, just wear slimming clothes. We have long been aware of how Magazine covers lie to us with photoshop but now we have learned that they can even photoshop videos! I didn't know this and I work in the video editing department. What do guys think? Makes you wonder if anyone else has been photoshopped. Body doubles we know exist. Remember Julia Roberts' legs in pretty women? So weird and freaky that this is done. I suppose if I could photoshop every picture of myself I would too, but then again I'm sort of lying to myself about what I actually look like.

In college as a communication major, we learned why people lie as well as why lying isn't always a bad thing. One reason is to save face. This means basically that we lie to protect ourselves

American Women Don't Eat Carbs after 2 pm, Madonna Sucks, Biggest Loser Final Four

Today in celebrity and diet news, we report that Madonna is a mean girl, some British guy wishes the women in England were more like females in the U.S. and The Biggestest Loser becomes a game of weight loss AND strategy.

-Some Brittish Guy told The Dail Mail that he thinks American women do not eat carbs after 2 pm and are betting looking than British females. We think he is delusional and has made a generalization about American women from the ones that live in Hollywood... because none of us have anything better to do than look pretty right?

-If Yoga promoted zen and peacefulness then what the heck has Madonna been doing all these years? If you find yourself going to Yoga early in the AM on a Saturday, make sure Madonna is not in town. She reportedly kicked out an entire Yoga class, including the instructor this weekend in NYC!

-And lastly, find out who got the boot from last nights episode of The Biggest Loser. Additionally, how old do you think Neil is? I bet you're going to be WAY off!

The Biggest Loser Recap: And then there were four

The Biggest Loser has finally narrowed down the pool to the remaining 4 contestants. Since when did this show become about alliances and team strategy? I mean the remaining contestants are all from the black team. Does this mean Jillian is the best trainer when it comes to shedding pounds?

Also, can you believe that the final four were almost sent packing during episode 1? I guess the captains chose wisely because they picked their biggest threats, or did they?

I'm so confused now about this show. I know no one does it really for the money, but I don't think people should be getting voted off at all. It should be who ever has the biggest weight loss TOTAL at the end. None of this week by week stuff. People have fluctuations, water retaining... What did you guys think?

Who do you want to win? Who do you think should have won?

I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE FINAL TO SEE WHAT EVERYONE LOOKS LIKE! Also, who knew that Neil was only 25 years old!!!!????

American Women More Beautiful Than British?

In todays world, it seems we can't away from the bashing of Americans (unless you choose not read about it). However, I found this little gem of an article while reading my favorite British site, The Daily Mail.
This is so unfair, but England's Amy Winehouse...
American Cameron Diaz...
Why can't British women get a man?
Because they are overweight, unkempt and lazy about grooming, says a screenwriter who's made it his business to date women on both sides of the Atlantic.
American-born Tad Safran - who spends his time in London and Los Angeles - says English women are stunning natural beauties when young, but they fail to rise to the challenge as they age and need to make more of an effort.
He complains that they don't take enough care of their appearance and fitness, and drink and eat too much.
When it comes to beauty, American women win hands down.
[The Daily Mail]

This guys thinks American women spend $715 on beauty maintenance a month, and an additional $1,000 on physical conditioning (like gym membership, yoga class, etc.) I hate to break it to you brittish guy, but not all american women do this. Maybe in Hollywood where he spends half his time (the other half in England) but if he is making these statements based on living in La La land, you have the female population in the states kind of wrong.

Yes, I am flattered that you think I work out more than my counterparts across the seas but I wouldn't say I Hollywood narcisists represent our entire country. The Brittish guy then tells a story which I find HILARIOUS...

Safran cites a recent dinner with his friend and his wife, who invited along a face from the past, named 'Sophie' to protect her real name.

Safran was friends with 'Sophie' 15 years ago and considered her a "truly beautiful" girl and was pleased when his friend's wife told him she hadn't changed at all and "still had the body of a 20-year-old".

However, Safran insists he was horrified by 'Sophie's current appearance, declaring if she did have the body of a 20-year-old, it was "dismembered in her freezer at home. She certainly didn't have it on her skeleton".

Safran was umimpressed with Sophie's presentation. He said: "'Sophie' tumbled into the house looking like a refugee from Hurricane Katrina. She smelt like the R&D lab at Philip Morris. Her outfit was about as sexy as half-pound of ground meat."

His shock continued when 'Sophie' tucked into a hearty meal of Shepherd's pie, which according to Safran, "no self-respecting American girl consumes carbohydrates after 2pm".

Really? We don't?

Lastly he says that, "He blames the failures of British women on friends not being honest with each other over their appearance, and mothers who do not teach women how to look after themselves. In America, women start going to spas in childhood."

I didn't go to a spa until I was... oh wait, I have never been. I have gotten the occasional massage (2 actually), and did get my nails done in high school a few times a year, but the Hot Nails in my hometown mall hardly counts as a spa.

The conclusion of this article really should be, "The world is delusional about the lives of American women." What people around the world perceive Americans as is so far off from reality is humorous. I started out the blog by generalizing the news around the world as American Bashers, with a small innuendo towards the notion that American women 1, British women 0. Now, I'm back to my initial feeling. The world hates Americans and thinks we are completely materialistic and self absorbed. Thanks but no thanks Daily Mail. A good fact check would help this article as to how much time American women take to get ready in the morning, spend on average working out, and money spent on appearance.

Yoga Can Make You Mean, at least if you're Madonna

When Madonna comes from overseas we usually hear a few ridiculous stories about the material girl turned yoga-nazi and her tribulations in the country she once was worshiped in.

Today Page 6 is reporting that her Madgesty told a Saturday morning yoga class, I want you all to leave." Honestly, if I lived in NYC (the city that never sleeps) and woke up for early yoga class on one of my 2 days to sleep in, and then got kicked out by the Material Girl, I would be pretty mad. It would make for a good story over brunch, but I'd be mad.

Madonna went to the Reebok Sports Club in NYC early Saturday Morning (the same one I went to for a wall climbing lesson at the young age of 13, like any of you care...). It appeared as though she was planning to take a yoga class, but according to a member of the class,
"Madonna started talking to the instructor and he told her talking wasn't allowed, she replied, "I need to speak to you," and then said to the class, "I want you all to leave." The teacher left with all 25 students. Madonna remained in the room practicing and wouldn't leave when a 10:30 a.m. dance class was to start. Madonna's rep said, "That sounds unlikely." The club declined to comment.

When I first saw this, I thought she wanted a private lesson with the instructor. Apparently not since he left as well! I am sure there is more to this story. I mean really, how can someone who practices so much zen loving relaxing yoga be so catty and mean girl-esque. Don't worry New Yorkers, soon enough she will be back in England where her fake accent belongs!

Lauren Conrad: Hard Worker or Hardly Works Out?

LC has a killer bod according to the cover of Shape Magazine, which is also known for it's FABULOUS photoshopping skills. When I saw the that LC was going to be featured I was so excited because I have written about her "workouts" before, and I couldn't wait too see what BS she was going to reveal to us now.

I am writing this paragraph before I read the article FYI: I predict she will say she doesn't diet. Eat's what she wants. Loves to go for long hikes in the Hills of Hollywood and works out like 3-4 days a week if she has time. She is soooo busy.

Ok, now I read!

Ok well, the entire article isn't online yet, and I don't have a copy in my hands so I will just have to settle with this little review I found at

The Hills star Lauren Conrad shows off her bikini body in the upcoming January 2008 issue of Shape Magazine. In the issue, Lauren shares her workout secrets: twice-a-week weight training, running and kickboxing, along with a fish-and-veggie-friendly diet. “I used to love fast food,” Lauren, 21, admits. “Now I eat six small meals a day consisting mostly of fish, beans, and other protein, along with veggies.”

How ridic photoshopped is this?
Ok so she does diet, and she doesn't really work out. I stand corrected LC.

Jennifer Love Hewitt Calls Size 4 Women Fat

Jennifer Love Hewitt sure is making headlines these days. She recently got engaged, and was then photographed in a bikini by the paparazzi. The pictures to say the least were very unflattering. Many blogs picked up the beach photos and poked fun at Hewitt's apparent weight gain. I purposely did not post the pictures because I thought it was very judgmental and in poor taste to slam someone who should be celebrating one of the happiest times in her life.

That was before I read the headline on

Jennifer Love Hewitt: 'A Size 2 Is Not Fat!'

Please excuse my language when I say, "No shit? Really? A size 2 isn't fat? Thanks Jennifer Love Hewitt for clearing that up."

Hewitt, 28, wrote on her blog after the pictures were plastered all over the internet saying, "Like all women out there should, I love my body, I know what I look like, and so do my friends and family." She goes on to say, "I've sat by in silence for a long time now about the way women's bodies are constantly scrutinized. To set the record straight, I'm not upset for me, but for all of the girls out there that are struggling with their body image."

She continues to have diarrhea of the mouth by adding, "A size 2 is not fat! Nor will it ever be. And being a size 0 doesn't make you beautiful. … To all girls with butts, boobs, hips and a waist, put on a bikini – put it on and stay strong."

What angers me about this blog post is that it seems soooo defensive. She comes across to me as saying, "I am a size 2. That's not fat. I'm not fat. These pictures make me look kinda fat, but I am a size 2 and that means I'm not fat." She tries to come across like she is disgusted with the way celebrities are scrutinized for their weight by the media and as a result young girls are becoming brain washed in what is actually thin. However, I would like to write a blog to Jennifer Love Hewitt. Here it it:

Dear Jennifer Love Handles,
A size 2 is not fat. A size 0 doesn't make you beautiful. However, you definitely are not a size 2. I am not either. Does that make me fat? During your entire girl power feminist blog post, I was disgusted that you didn't point out that a size 4 is not fat. A size 6 isn't fat either. I'm a size 6 and I would never write a blog saying size 2 is not fat. I would say a size 8 isn't even considered fat, ESPECIALLY if you're a tall person, I could go on as well, I know size 10 and 12 people who look lovely in bikini and I wouldn't call them fat. I do not know why you chose to use a size 2 as an example but I don't think anyone is going to argue that a size 2 is not fat. NO ONE except the a**hole on YouTube who has nothing better to do. You got photographed having a little bit of cellulite. Who doesn't, ask Tyra Banks. Sure she is crazy but she came out with her real weight number and wore a bikini on national TV. You instead, wrote a blog telling us something that we have always known and made it out like you were this heroic public figure for standing up to the media. No, you're not. But you made my size-4 friend think she is fat. Are you calling her fat?

New Video!

Celebrity and Diet Headlines for the last week in Novmeber 2007

This week in Celebrity related diet and health gossip:

-Jolly Ole St Nick is getting reprimanded by The Top Doc in the US saying that he is too fat and a bad example for children. Because all children look up to a creepy fat man who sneaks into their houses through a chimney late at night and whose only social encounters are with his wife, reindeer and elves.

-Apparently, you may be gaining weight due to your desk job. The latest workout recommendation is to... in the words of Eminem, "Please Stand Up, Please Stand Up."

-Is Britney Spears Preggers?

-People Magazine enlightened us this week with a TELL-ALL or "Can Hardly Tell" article on how everybody's favorite country stars recently lost weight. Find out how Carrie Underwood finally lost that baby fat or as the diva thinks, college flab.

-Lilly Allen defends her weight loss despite her criticism of super-skinny celebs, claiming a heart murmur. Find out what she had to say and what diet diva had to add.

Santa Claus Must Lose Weight Or Else!

Don't tell the Doctor your putting cookies under the tree for Jolly old Saint Nick! Our country has become so weight obsessed that America's top doctor told the Boston Herald yesterday that Santa Claus should slim down!

"“It is really important that the people who kids look up to as role models are in good shape, eating well and getting exercise. It is absolutely critical,” acting U.S. Surgeon General Rear Adm. Steven K. Galson said in an interview after a presentation on obesity at the Boston Children’s Museum."

This comes as one of many recent attacks on Chri Cringle. In Australia, Santa has been ordered not to say "ho, ho, ho" for fear of offending slutty women or scaring children. Tis the season to be politically correct, Santa can no longer say "Merry Christmas" but is recommended to say "Happy Holidays," (which my very christian mother cannot stand). According to my mom, if they are Jewish you say "Happy Hanukkah," Christians "Merry Christmas," etc.

"And the Amalgamated Order of Real Bearded Santas agrees with the acting surgeon general that Santa is just too fat. The organization has suggested its 800 members lose weight in time for its July convention to “set an example.”

“We think it is a health issue for Santa and for children and that Santa should be setting an example,” said Nicholas Trolli, president of Philadelphia-based AORBS.

Connaghan carried out a survey of more than 300 Santas that found the average weight was 256 pounds."

This is getting ridiculous. Santa is FAKE. He is NOT real. I mean seriously, how ridiculous is it that we tell our children that a fat man sneaks into your house through a chimney (which a skinny person can't even do nor would a sane person) while you are sleeping. It's so creepy. Worst of all, he employs lots of little people up at the North Pole. What are they child labors? The man is a mess. His nose is wicked red, probably because he is secretly an alchoholic. Next thing we know, Santa is going to become jacked, wear a blue yarmulke (pronounced: Ya-Mu-Kah), your presents will be at your door step instead of under the tree and global warming will melt the north pole so they elves will live in Canada or Russia.

What do you guys think?

Women Not Getting Fatter By The Day!

Hey ladies, I have good news! Those stupid estimates are wrong! I always hate it when I hear, "What percent of the population will be obese by the year 2020?" Like seriously, lets play it by ear and not jump to conclusions that EVERYONE is going to be fat by some year in the future. The NYT reports today, "Obesity rates in women have leveled off and stayed steady since 1999, long enough for researchers to say the plateau appears to be real. And, they say, there are hints that the rates may be leveling off for men, too." [NYT]

Office Workers get short end of the stick when it comes to obesity

No matter what you eat or how much you exercise, you desk job may be the culprit for weight gain according to a new study out of the University of Missouri. Researchers say most of us sit too much. From the revolution to the internet, non stop television entertainment, transportation, I don't think it's a stretch to say technology advances in way so that we can be MORE lazy.

In most cases, exercise alone, according to a team of scientists at the University of Missouri, isn't enough to take off those added pounds. The problem, they say, is that all the stuff we've heard the last few years about weight control left one key factor out of the equation. When we sit, the researchers found, the enzymes that are responsible for burning fat just shut down.
This goes way beyond the common sense assumption that people who sit too much are less active and thus less able to keep their weight under control. It turns out that sitting for hours at a time, as so many of us do in these days of ubiquitous computers and electronic games and 24-hour television, attacks the body in ways that have not been well understood.
[ABC News]

Ok, so what jobs allow you to stand for most of the day? Famous people never sit down. They are out filming movies, putting on concerts, getting in shape for their roles and concerts, shopping, more shopping, doing good around the world, etc... It's so easy for them NOT to sit down. When we do shoots for, my feet are always in pain from all the standing I do. Rich Celebs 1, the rest of us office workers 0. What other jobs that aren't 1 in a million allow employees to actually stand to do their job? Janitors, waitresses, floor sales people, personal trainers, meter maids, some teachers, some news anchors... When I worked at NESN, that place was not set up for lazy. The editing suites were down a good 100 Meter hallway, and the computers were at the other end, so if you didn't know who the heck #12 on the opposite team's name was, you had to go run to the other end look it up and run back to finish writing a script to go along with your video. Yeah, I used to run and wanted to get the sneaks with wheels. Anyway, anyone have any jobs that they are standing a lot? This study makes sense, but not really a medical breakthrough in my opinion.

Country Singers Forgo the Fried Chicken For Healthier Workouts

Last week, People magazine's BodyWatch gave us the inside scoop on how country singing sensations are dropping pounds. Here I thought southern folk all enjoyed the slow pace of living and good old fried chicken? Who knew?

Well, in all honesty I knew as soon as Carrie Underwood was crowned American Idol that she would soon slim down. I mean, the girl went from college senior to best female vocalist. When I graduated college, I slimmed down a good 20 lbs in 4 months... without really trying. I guess I tried a little bit, but it would've been more of an effort to keep the weight on. Too much partying, late night food, then too hung over to workout and needed the grease to feel better so I could study all day. Yeah, it's a rut you get into.

Carrie tells People she shed her baby weight (or freshmen 15 as I would prefer) by amping up her cardio. After she won season 4 of AI, she decided to slim down but didn't change her diet or fitness routine radically to do so (OMG, are we like the same person). Underwood says she does not workout with a trainer, but does "lots of cardio." She watched what she easts, but Underpants is a longtime vegetarian. She was actually voted sexiest vegetarian by PETA this past year. Her tips for people like us are to carry a snack around with you at all times. She always has a kashi bar in her little purse on the red carpet. Maybe that's not something we relate to, but maybe when you're shopping and pull out a snack you can say, "I'm pulling a Carrie Underwood, duh."

Following with AI trend, People also profiles none other than, Kellie "bricks for brains" Pickler. Seriously, watch a few clips when she was on "Are you smarter than a 5th grader." She really is that dumb or trying to pull the biggest JSimp ever on us. Pickler dropped 17 lbs since appearing on Idol in March '07, when rumors swirled of a breast augmentation. She claims she does not diet, doesn't give anything up and hits the gym only when it fits her busy schedule. Huh? How did she lose the weight then? She claims she is drinking more water and no longer eating when she isn't truly hungry. She says, "It's not about losing weight anymore, it's about getting everything to stop flopping around!" Her cardio of choice when she time are swimming, running or playing a game of football with her band (with her new set of twins I'm sure it's no contact).

Now quickly onto the boring country stars we don't really care about:
LeAnn Rimes has gotten really into Yoga, and does circuit training. Yes she has a trainer, she can bench press her weight which is very impressive in my opinion, and keeps her tour bus stocked with healthy choices like cottage cheese, turkey, fruit and whole-grain breads.

Jewel (who knew she was considered country?) says she workouts with a trainer, and loves to do 'hot-yoga' when she is in Nashville. She lives in Texas so I'm not sure how often that might be, but People found it interesting enough to print. She works out for an hour 5-times a week ocmbining weight cardio and ... football exercises. Yes, football. She eats whole grains and lean protein (obv) and the occasional dark chocolate! Jewel says no to the elliptical because it's boring. I say no to the elliptical because I don't feel like I truly get a workout.

Thanks People Bodywatch! I can't weight for next week's bar raising journalism.

Is Britney Pregnant?

In Touch Weekly is reporting that Britney Spears is Pregnant! The called the man who is reportedly the father, and he confirmed the story to the tabloid! This is outrageous.

When asked about the pregnancy, J.R. confirmed exclusively to In Touch that Britney is carrying his child. "It's true," he says. On November 16, she proudly e-mailed a copy of the ultrasound to her inner circle.

I know she looks dumpy and a mess, but pregnant? How is this woman not on birth control?

Lily Allen Defends Weight Loss

Lilly Allen was once known for her antics, and honest blogging on MySpace. She poured out her heart in one entry saying she was depressed and would never be a size zero. She criticised the other Hollywood starlets for their skinny frames. Recently Allen has been spotted looking much leaner. Hypocrit many blogger asked? Yes and No. Sure she slammed the majority of Hollywood for caving into the thin-pressures, but I think we owe it to the formerly-troubled brittish sensation to cut her some slack.

She was thrust into fame here in America, very quickly might I add. Now, she is defending her weight loss and saying it's for health reasons. Which is why people should lose weight. She reportedly lost 19 pounds in just six weeks, going from a size 12 to a reasonable size 8.

Allen told Grazia magazine:

“I found out I had a heart murmur about three months ago. I had switched doctors and just went for a routine check up, which is when they discovered I had this irregular murmur.

I have been asthmatic all my life, but this was really quite scary. When they asked me how much exercise I did, I had to be honest and say hardly any.

I make sure I work out three times a week now, and I don’t hold back. It’s a hardcore routine and I’m usually in the gym for at least an hour-and-a-half.

I used to love nothing more than sitting in front of the telly with two packets of Ginger Nuts and two bags of milk bottle sweets - and I’d devour the lot. But this heart thing has made me cut back on all that kind of crap. I now find that, because I am looking after myself, I don’t feel like eating the bad stuff so much.

I really want to stress that I haven’t done this because I want to become some skinny minnie - I will never be like that. I just like being more toned, it has made me really happy and I know I will never be super skinny because I would never be happy.

I was going pretty crazy back in the summer, drinking way too much and partying loads. But now I don’t want to drink so much, I’ve been cutting back. I should also give up smoking, but haven’t quite managed that yet.”

SIDE NOTE: Many different blogs covered her weight loss in early October when Lily told reporters that she lost the weight through hypnosis. Is she lying about becoming a fitness freak or did the hypnosis make her into one? She is also rarely seen without a cigarette in mouth.

My Thanksgiving of Exercise and Food

It's the Monday after Thanksgiving, the beginning to maybe the longest week in a long time. I hope everyone had a fantastic Turkey Day filled with indulgence, family and fun. I think for once, I actually practiced what preach on this fat holiday.

Yes, I woke up early at my mom's house in Cape Cod and was dragged by her to an aerobics class. I hate aerobics. Step, high knees, lift knees, I don't know or care but just give me a treadmill and I'm good. However, my mother promised me that this class called "Willpower and Grace" was a mix of cardio, Yoga and Pilates. Well, that sounded delightful. My friend's mother was teaching the class so I figured I'd say hi and get a sweat before eating too much. It was a little too aerobics for me, but I enjoyed the yoga-pilates part because it was done with a faster tempo.

Afterwards, I went down to the beach (It was 60 degrees out!) to meet up with my friend Elizabeth to go for a walk. Instead of exercising we had a photoshoot in our workout clothes and climbed the jetty to the end, not much walking. After all this, I felt I had justified my right to eat what I wanted for lunch/dinner!

For appetizers, I had shrimp cocktail. When it was time for the main meal, my mother set it up like a buffet. The first items to choose from went completely against my blog I wrote on Wednesday. I wrote about how to fill your plate first with turkey and veggies, then the other stuff. The other stuff was first, so like the youngest child I am, I went backwards down the buffet line. Anyway, I ate what I wanted. I didn't really hold back at all, but I didn't have any alcohol. How did everyone else do? Did anyone hold back and now regretting passing it up?

I had my High School Reunion as well. Awkward but fun nevertheless. I did drink alcohol at that!

Post-Thanksgiving Workout For Couch Potatoes

Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving. Here is a fun workout that hardly requires you to move from your couch that I got in an e-mail from everyone's favorite daily newsletter (except mine, I think it's boring and useless), Daily Candy.

Mashed Potato March: March in place for three to five minutes.

Set 1
Turkey Trot: Walk down the stairs and run back up. (If you don’t have stairs, do twenty jumping jacks.)
Cranberry Curls: Fifteen bicep curls with any canned food (no, not the empties).
Couch Potato Crunches: Sitting upright on the couch, raise and lower legs together twenty times.
Repeat the entire set three times.

Set 2
Knobbly Knees: Raise each knee as high as you can while pulling down your arms. Twenty times per leg.
Groovy Gravy Dips: Ten tricep dips using the coffee table as support.
Shoulder Squash: Twenty shoulder presses with a canned food item.
Repeat the entire set three times.

Set 3
Leftover Lazy Abs: Lay on the floor holding any leftover pie (we prefer pumpkin, you know, for heft). Lower pie to the ground above your head and raise back up above chest twenty times.
Popover Push-Ups: A dozen push-ups from toes or knees.
Turkey Tush Tighteners: Kneel on all fours, extend right leg back, then bring knee to chest. Twenty times per side.
Repeat the entire set three times.

Dramatic Dessert: Fake jump rope in place for two minutes.

Kelly Ripa gets Photoshopped Bellybutton

I love Kelly Ripa and know she has an amazing body, but here is an example courtesy of life and style magazine, of how unnecessary airbrushing really is and how out of hand it has gotten. Kelly has an outtie bellybutton, but the ridiculous cover of Shape Magazine (especially when compared with Fitness) makes her look like she has an innie!

The Best Thanksgiving Diet Survival Guide, Tips and Workout!

Burn calories this Thanksgiving instead of packing on the pounds. Here are the best tips I've seen around the internet, health magazines, and talk shows. They are realistic and simple to remember.

Here is my workout video with Fitness Expert Katrina (who is also my trainer). These moves can be done anywhere from your guest bedroom to your local gym. Don't use lack of time as an excuse not to workout this busy holiday season! This circuit by the way, kicked my butt!

Other great ideas for working out while traveling: Bring along your running shoes (if weather permits). Pack a jump rope, they are light weight and easy to pack Go for a walk before having dinner. Play a little game of touch football while the bird is in the oven. Don't forget that cleaning the house, preparing the meal and then cleaning up again after dinner burns calories as well. Wear a heart rate monitor to see if your heart rate stays up while your playing Suzy Homemaker.

A few last minute pointer in regards to the big meal:
-The big advice apparently is that Pumpkin pie is your best bet in regards to dessert when compared to Apple Pie and Pecan Pie. -Don't drink your calories (unless dinner is going to be unbearable without that oversized glass of red wine). Turkey is a major green light.
-Use smaller dinner plates. First load up on veggies and lean protein, then choose from the other stuff like mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing, for just a taste.
-Once you've finished round one and want to go up for seconds, sit for about 15 minutes, have a LARGE glass of water, and then decide if you really want seconds or what you need to have.
-Remember, if you're hosting the dinner let your guests take home leftovers (especially the deserts, keep the turkey). If you ARE going to be stuck with the leftovers, and you know this, there is really no need to STUFF yourself in this one day. Let your food last a few days, you'll save money.

That is all I got, remember this is the Holiday Season, not just one day. You've got an entire month of holiday parties and dinners coming up. Budget your calories wisely, treat it like a bank account. If you eat too many on Thursday remember to watch your intake on Friday. Happy Thanksgiving, Gobble Gobble.

Jordin Sparks Loves Her Lady Lumps

Jordin Sparks has just come out with her debut CD. I haven't heard the whole thing yet, but the first single tatoo or something isn't that bad (no carrie or kelly but not taylor hicks!) She sat down with OK! Magazine recently to talk about what else???? Her full woman figure! I mean seriously, can a woman with curves sit through an entire interview in La La land withOUT being asked how it feels to be the black sheep in a size zero tinseltown? Here is what she had to say:

How do you cope with the pressure to be stick-thin?
I really think that Hollywood needs to get over that. I’m just saying! I kind of thought it was really dumb before, anyway, before I got into all this. I’m still the same. I’m not going to change just because you have this image of somebody and how they need to look, because I will never look like that. I would probably fall over if the wind blew if I was that skinny. I can’t help it. I love food and I love my curves. I’m very strong-willed and I’m stubborn in that sense to where I’m just like "no, I won’t be that way." I definitely do like exercise. I like to eat right. It’s all about being healthy. The stick-thin thing, I’m kind of just like "not gonna do it" and I couldn’t.

Do you follow a special diet and exercise regimen?
Well, before the show started and before the tour, because everything has been so crazy, I’ve kind of been out of it for awhile. Before I was hiking the mountain every morning and I was going to spin class every night. It was all about portion control. I was trying to do portion control but it’s kind of hard to do that because I need a little more self-discipline than I have. [Laughs] I eat salads, steaks and good stuff, and I’m trying to cut out soda but it’s kind of hard. That’s what I was doing, and I’m trying to get back into it. Since everything has been so crazy and sometimes I don’t really have time to go out and drive to the gym, I’ll just do some sit-ups in my room, jump rope in my room a little bit, to get that cardio in, and then just trying to eat right. I’m trying to get back into it.

During the holidays when you’re eating all this great food, is there anything special you do to stay in shape?
Sadly, no, because just from past years, all I want to do is have a good time and not have to worry about it, but I'm going to have to this year. I think I’ll be at home, so I’ll probably hike the mountain in the morning and my aunt is a trainer up at the gym. If she’s still doing that, I’ll probably go up there with her and do spin class again.

Diet and Health News From Around The World

News stories from around the globe that makes the U.S. not seem like the obesity propaganda capital of the world.

-It appears that in Japan, it's not the women who are dying to be thin but the men! About seven years ago Japanese woman turned their concerns towards health and exercise. According to the article today's Japanese women are strong, robust, bursting with energy. They takes care of their body but are not obsessed with being thin. They are proud of their muscles. The men on the other hand are the ones who want to be "slender, vulnerable and protected." Young males between the ages of 18 and 30 make up the slimmest segment of the population and the ideal fashion weight by the apparel industry is about 125 pounds, and a height of 5 feet 8 inches. Many men for many men this is their ideal/goal body and like Hollywoods skinny girls, some wish they were even skinnier. Could you imagine if over here in the US, the gender roles were reversed? Instead of Glamour preaching how to the last 5 pounds, that would read the cover of GQ and Maxim? I can see it now on my first date with my future ex husband:
Me: "I'll have the Steak Special, cooked medium, what does that come with? Actually I don't care, I'll take whatever. Mashed pots? Perfect."
Future Ex-Husband: "I'll have the garden salad with grilled chicken, no cheese or crouton, Fat Free Balsamic on the side, thanks."
Me: "What are you on a diet?"
...Yeah, that will be the day
[Read The Article Here]

-If you are thinking about relocating to New Zealand any time soon, you better get on a scale pronto to make sure they will let you in! The Daily Mail is reporting that a Brittish woman was banned from entering New Zealand for being too fat!
"Rowan Trezise, 33, has been left behind in England while her husband Richie, 35, has already made the move down under leaving her desperately trying to lose weight." Here is what New Zealand spokesperson had to say, "The immigration department can't afford to import people who are going to be a significant drain on our health resources." The country uses the BMI index to determine whether or not someone is overweight. I have written about this a few times, how I think it is an unfair measurement of health. Is New Zealand trying to play Darwin by itself? Lastly this isn't Fact Checked, but according to the article the BMI that is regarded overweight is 25, so does that mean if you are a 26 you cannot enter? [Read the article here]

-In a report published by the Women's Sport and Fitness Foundation last week, a reported 1 in 5 women actually get the recommeneded 30 minutes of exercise 5 days a week, and the number is even LOWER among ethnic minority groups with only 13.2% of Muslim women managing the recommended 30 minutes of daily moderate activity five days a week. Reportedly this situation is getting worse. "Muslim societies, in general, do allow women to exercise; in fact, Islam positively encourages physical activity for both sexes. But, in some Muslim communities, female participation in sport and fitness is permitted only on the condition that women adhere to their religion's code of modesty," reportes the UK's Gaurdian. The women cannot swim in public pools, nor can the workout where men will be present. To help encourage muslim women to exercise while still abiding by Muslim rules, the Muslim Women's Sports Foundation (MWSF) runs a weekly 2-hour training session in North London. Still there are relatively few places for muslim women to get fit.

"In Birmingham (UK), the Sisters Games initiative, launched last year, provides Muslim women with single-sex sporting opportunities and exercise classes that allow them to adhere to Islamic values. Akhtar says a huge breakthrough was made when Britain became the first non-Muslim country to take part in the Muslim Women's Games, a four-yearly championship run like a mini-Olympics." Also, designers are creating clothing for women to wear while working out, that still cover what needs to be covered but without the excess material.
I chose to include this article because I never thought about this. I take for granted being able to go to the gym. Does anyone on here know if there are places in the US where Muslim women can workout? Please feel free to comment anyone. What about in the middle east like Afghanistan, Iran and Iraq? Do women exercise there? These may seem like naive comments but I honestly never even thought about this before and now I am very curious.

My New Favorite Blog, Jezebel

I have a confession to make. While writing this blog about celebrities and diet, at times I have fallen into a rut scrutinizing over minimal weight gain in the stars we see daily in our tabloids. My new favorite blog is I was first introduced to them when they released the untouched version of Faith Hill's cover of RedBook. Remember?

Well, it's kind of a women's fashion/gossip/odd news blog with a dark comedic effect (their tagline is Celebrity, Sex, Fashion without the airbrushing). One of their regular featured articles is called Missdemeanors. The website claims to monitor some of the web's most popular blogs and issue a virtual spanking against those who commit "Crimes against Womanity." Here is the first violation from this Friday's posting:

The Charge: Rampant Hypocrisy
The Accused: "Wah, wah, they're being mean to me and my little innocent blog!" whiner Rian from The Skinny. How's it feel to finally get picked first for something?
The Evidence: "Hayden Panettiere has been photographed leaving the gym nearly every day lately. Here are some new pictures from this past Friday...And, the obligatory cellulite photo."
Points for Good Behavior: None. So over this chick and her dumb blog and her own weight loss "journey." which is clearly f'ed up. Hayden However-You-Spell-Her-Last-Name is like Olsen-sized and totally cute and there's no such thing as "an obligatory cellulite photo" unless you are a fat-obsessed asshat who spends her days analyzing the tiny weight fluctuations of celebrities. You know what those tiny fluctuations are, Rian? Bowel movements. Try it.
The Sentence: Participating in a mayonnaise eating competition.

I used to go to The Skinny a lot to write this blog, but after awhile, I got so sick and tired of the same old picture of Jessica Simpson asking if she had gained a pound or two, it was ridiculous and I suddenly started to hate writing this blog. That was when I discovered Jezebel. The ladies who continually crack me up helped me see the light at the end of "The Skinny" tunnel. This lady is crazy. I will do my best not to use her site for blogs, mainly because we PROMOTE healthy lifestyles and clearly this woman, Rian, does not given her scrutinizing blogs over a pound or two. Celebrities are human too.

Here is a second violation they discuss:
The Charge: Fat-ernizing
The Accused: Basically bland Nick from Celeb Slam.
The Evidence: "Man, Bill Gates played this all wrong. Don't get me wrong, if I was as rich as him, I'd have gone to the concert, too. But at the end of the show I would have presented Kelly with a beautiful gift basket full of candy and pastries. I might have even taken her for a night out on the town, wining and dining her at one of Seattle's finest restaurants. On me of course. And then the next day I would have bought her production company and fired her for being fat."
Points for Good Behavior: In general, Celeb Slam is fairly link and boob-photo heavy and therefore about as offensive as an issue of Maxim. Like, it goes without saying that the standards for "fat" by which women are judged is totally different from the ones for men. But jokes about Kelly Clarkson being fat are boring and stupid. Wait, actually, jokes about any woman being fat are boring and stupid. But with Kelly Clarkson, it's like, you can almost see her rolling her eyes. Like, maybe once upon a time your insult would drive me to the Little Debbie aisle. Like when I was twelve.
The Sentence: Pretty sure being boring and predictable is punishment enough.

This pretty much explains itself, but I just wanted to show why I enjoy this site. They also have actual news, and break it themselves instead of just copying what the real news is saying like most bloggers.

Here is an example of another story from last week. The headline reads "Annals of Anorexia: As Suspected The Models Aren't Eating." During fashion week in New York, one model granted the New Yorker access to her food diary that she kept specifically for the article. The model tries to look like she eats a lot, but Jezebel, decodes her diary by calculating the amount of calories she consumes and concludes that the model is barely eating 800 calories a day. I have some issue with this article because the model does not really state her portion sizes so Jezebel has guessed for her, making their calorie total susceptible to a VERY large margin of error. Here is a quote from the model with Jezebel's break down:
I had Raisin Bran for breakfast. I usually don't like eating first thing in the morning. For lunch I had a huge plate of green salad and vegetables. For dinner I had chicken noodle soup and a honey-and-oat bar from room service. I don't like cooking because you cook too much and the food gets wasted.

Raisin Bran - 195 (1 cup)
Milk - 85 (1 cup, skim)
Salad - 16 (4 cups lettuce)
Vegetables - 20 (1/2 cup asparagus)
Chicken noodle soup - 95 (i bowl)
Granola bar - 397 (1 bar)
Total for day: 808 calories

I don't know about you but A. I never actually have 1 cup of cereal OR soup, and B. I have never had a granola bar that was almost 400 calories. I would like to know where Jezebel got this nutrition data, and invite them to use's. I agree the model hardly ate this day, and tries to appear that she indeed indulges but I would say that the bloggers should probably steer clear of this type of analysis in the future because it really has very little merit. BUT I do love this site, so thank you for letting me openly hate on The Skinny and other weight scrutinizing bloggers :) Was that just hypocritical?

Steal Kelly Rippa's Workout Tips For a Toned Sexy Body

One of my favorite health/fitness magazines is Fitness Magazine. Usually they have strong athletes and fitness models on the cover, but I suprised to see Kelly Ripa on the front for the Dec/Jan issue. She is an extremely thin celebrity, but she looks healthy and has waaaaay too much energy to be one of those girls who doesn't eat. There have been many articles published on what her favorite work outs are, from yoga to pilates to running. I never believe any of them. This month, I think Fitness magazine may have actually done their reporting and ignored the typical route of showing you her "favorite moves" with a trainer she really doesn't go to.

First, she admits she didn't work out until her 30's. I believe her. She claims that she is a runner, and usually jobs 3-5 miles a day. Again, I believe her primarily because it is not an absurd amount of distance, and can be accomplished in 30-60 minutes.

She praises a toning routine at a gym in New York City, telling Fitness, "I have never been addicted to something like this. I got at least four times a week." So what is it you ask? It is a toning/stretching class at New York City's Physique 57 studio. (I thought that Physique 57 was the name of the class? I guess not?) It uses the body weight for resistance, which I am a HUGE fan of mainly because as women, why do we need to have huge muscles that can lift 100 lb dumbells. We don't want our girlfriends to call us up for help the next time they move apartments, seroiusly. We just need strength to carry our body weight and look sexy-toned, right?

Here are 3 moves from the class that got Kelly "eye-popping" results:
ARMS: Sit on floor with knees bent, heels a few inches in front of knees. Place palms under shoulder, finger facing bod. Lift hips off floor. Raise left leg, keeping knee bent. Bend elbows behind you. As hips lower toward floor (no touching!), kick left heel up. Straighten arms while lowering heel toward butt. Do 10 reps, switch sides.

ABS: Lie faceup on floor, legs extended and hands behind head, elbows out to side. Lift head, neck and shoulders off the floor. Twist right shoulder toward left side, return to center, then twist left shoulder toward right side. DO 10 reps per side.

BUTT AND LEGS: Stand facing the back of sturdy chair or a counter edge; hold on. Form a narrow V with feet( heels together, toes turned out). Rise onto the balls of your feet (lean back so hips are over knees). Bend knees, keeping them in line with toes. Lift and press heels together, pulsing up and down 3 to 4 inches, for 1 minute. (Advanced: Place a 6-inch playground ball between your thighs and squeeze.)

John Mayer is making fun of you. Yes, you heard me. He thinks that we are all so obsessed with celebrity gossip, that he wants to bring us "the most personal facet of [his] life." His meals. Mayer has begun keeps a meal blog of everything he eats, and taking a picture to upload for all the world to see. Clever idea if you ask me.

He is mocking the public for our obsession over needing to know every little detail regarding celebrity lifestyles. Ever since he dumped J.Simpson he has been looking a really good. Not exatly cute yet in my opinion, but he no longer looks like a mess. He seems to actually care, and has begun working out. So naturally, I am a little curious to see if he has been eating healthy. It turns out, the only pictures on his mlog right now are a waffle with bacon, some french fries, fried chicken, a Shepard's pie thing that looks like flan in my opinion and yes a salad. If you are interested in what Mayer is eating, check out his meal blog here.

In other diet news...

I reported awhile back that one of the contestants on this cylce of America's Top Model was being portrayed as "Plus-siz" however bloggers all over the internet seemed to disagree! This past week she was kicked off for "losing weight."

Having not watched this show since I realized I hated Tyra Banks and her massive ego, I can't really say alot however, interviewed Sarah Hartshorne, the ANTM contestant, and what she had to say is pretty dead on.

How did you feel when you were being talked about as a plus-size model? What is the regular size for plus-size? Lots of commenters on the Internet thought that you were already thin.

I don't really know what size most plus-size girls are, but people tell me it's a little bigger than me. I try not to think too hard about labels like that. I am who I am, and I look how I look. I like it, Tyra likes it, and I think I held my own among the other girls. Since I never thought of myself as a model before the show, I definitely never saw myself as a plus-size model. I wouldn't mind being one, but I wish we didn't have to categorize everything so much. Why can't I just be a model? Why couldn't someone as gorgeous as Toccara Jones just be a model? Why do we have to be put in our own section? I'm not one of those people who believes that all skinny girls are wrong or bad or don't belong on a runway. The girls in the house were beautiful and talented but I wish their beauty and talent was what mattered most, not their weight.

Let me tell you that Sarah is 5'10" and weighs 150 lbs, a size 8! Like seriously, this is what a plus size model is? Tyra Banks is such a hypocrite. She cries on TV about her "fat ass" and loves to promote the whole healthy body, love the skin your in but then she has to go and label the model with a bmi of 21.5 as Plus-Sized!? Just another reason why I desprise Tyra Banks. Here are some pictures of Sarah. What do you guys think.

Here are some quotes from another site called
Buddytv:From day one until the day you were eliminated, it did look like you had lost weight, but did you? Or were you trying to?

I was certainly not trying to. I lost like three and half pounds. I hadn’t really thought about it but now that I do, maybe a lot of it was just the way I was carrying myself. Being in a house full of models you straighten up. You stand tall. Like when I’d laugh I used to kind of hunch up. Like the pictures that they show to contrast between what I look like before and after, I’m sort of laughing and hunching up my shoulders and I don’t do that so much anymore. I think maybe a lot of it was carriage and being aware of my body, which I never really had to be before except as an actress. And that’s a very different type of awareness.

Buddytv: Your elimination had a lot of BuddyTV readers really upset, especially since Tyra makes such a big deal about being okay with your body on her talk show. When she brought up your weight as an issue, what were your thoughts on that?

My thought was that, it is an issue. And I acknowledge that. And it’s an issue in the fashion industry on both ends. Weight is an issue in America really. We have and obesity problem, but at the same time we have problems with eating disorders among young girls. So, it’s an issue at a really high level of American culture and consciousness, but it’s also an issue in the fashion industry. Therefore, it’s going to be an issue on the show. So, I don’t think she’s wrong to bring it up. I mean, it’s unfortunate that she brought it up, but it does and she did. She always said that I was beautiful, so it’s not as though she ever said anything disparaging about the way I looked. So, I never really felt that badly or anything.

Jennie Garth Loves Her Body

Jennie Garth is so confident with her body that she doesn't mind being on Dancing With The Stars half naked?

Here is what she tells US Weekly,
ennie Garth’s slimming down secret is not what you might think. “I eat a lot now,” the Dancing with the Stars contestant tells Us Weekly. “I love a late-night Dorito.”

The 35-year-old mom of three (Luca, 10, Lola, 4, and Fiona, 1) has found the alternative to dieting: “Rehearsing for six hours.”

Garth tells Us, "When I decided to do [Dancing with the Stars], I did pilates three days a week and cardio twice. I hated it, but it helped. Once I started dancing, things changed faster than when I was just working out."

Garth says she's dropped 10 pounds since starting on the show, "but it's more about the inches and toning. My jeans were a 29 when I started, and I'm wearing a 27 now," she explains. "It's great to be able to go to the back of my closet and get the clothes I wore [prebaby]."

Actor husband Peter Facinelli, 33, is enjoying the benefits of Garth's dancing as well. "He said, 'It's like I got a new car!'" she tells Us. "He can't keep his hands off me. To the point that it's like, enough!"

Uh-oh. Garth may be dancing her way to the couple's fourth baby!

Mandy Moore Gains A Few, The Hills Is Fake, I Hate Perez Hilton

Here is a recent picture of Mandy Moore. It looks like she has gained a little bit of weight. I love Mandy Moore, she is normal. So she's not working right now, give her a break, she can let loose for a little bit. Why do people feel the need to criticize? Doesn't everyone gain a few lb's in the winter? I know I do. Not everyone is perfect all the time, EVEN celebrities.

Ok, I've given up on Perez Hilton. That man realllllly annoys me. He is so quick to judge EVERYONE. Why do so many people care about what he has to say every friggin day? Today (I check it for you guys on M,W,F once in the morn), he has a picture of Kim Kardashian's sister who also stars in their new reality series. The title of the post is "Here's to the 'ladies' who lunch." Here is was the a**hole had to say:
Finally! We were going through some KK withdrawals!
Our favorite new Hollywood “It” Boy, Khloe Kardashian is one of the ladies who lunch.
The breakout start of E!’s Keeping Up With the Kardashians made an appearance at the Hollywood Bag Ladies Lupus Luncheon benefit in Beverly Hills on Wednesday.
Doesn’t he look cute?
Khloe’s trying to step up his game!
He needs to take it to another level, though.
We better see a video like this from you soon Khloe!

Ok Seriously, if Kloe is really one of your new favorites, why are you calling her a man. I haven't seen a whole episode of this show yet, and you'll find out why shortly but like, people who don't watch but read Perez are now going to view this really pretty fuller figured woman as a man. Thanks Perez! Keep up the good work in building the self esteem of teenage girls all over the world.

Now that you know I've given up on stupid celebrity bloggers, I'm also losing interest in 'The Hills' at a plummeting rate. Once one of my favorite shows I now have many questions that take the pleasure out of watching spoiled, over-privileged, undeserving, talentless party girls. First, there are rumors all over the internet the show is fake, with EVIDENCE. While shooting in NYC, Lauren reportedly had to order her dinner 4 times, to get it right for the camera. Someone at an LA airport (LAX or Long Beach) saw the camera's rolling on Heidi and Spencer saying goodbye. A little bit later, Heidi and Spencer were spotted in the same clothes but different shirts... reuniting (Get it? They filmed her leaving, and coming back in the same day!) There are many, many, more (They don't actually have jobs, Scenes are filmed to look like they are the same day but are not in reality, they no longer live at the Hillside Villa's but just film there, a TON of dialogue is re-recorded back in a studio), but I just remembered as I was about to go off on my little rant that this was suppose to be a diet blog, not just celebrities.
But my last and most annoying peeve about this show is WHY ARE THEY ALWAYS ON US WEEKLY. There is even a blog on US Weekly to keep you updated on what's going on. Like for reals? US weekly used, USED, to be the best and reported on stories that I actually found interesting, but feeding me "news" because it's on a reality show is a bit tacky. I swear the people at the Hills must have some sort of deal with them. Did anyone watch Courtney Cox's show, 'Dirt'? My theory is that these Hills people have infiltrated the party scene in LA so much, that they know all the inside scoop. At first, they were nobodies but everyone else's business was being reported back to US weekly from the stars of the Hills, and in return, US was going to make them bigger stars than the ones they were throwing under the bus! Ahah! Ok sorry, i just needed vent.

I don't watch the Kardashian show because it's the same stupid thing. Who are these so-called socialites and why do we care so much about what they do that they need a TV show? They don't need jobs because they have LARGE LARGE trustfunds, but as soon as they create a name for themselves, why not get a job to only have a film crew follow you around? I would rather watch someone with Real Problems, like me. Oh boo hoo, that boy dumped you, there's a line waiting outside your door for a date.

I think they should do a reality show about athlete groupies, especially baseball. Classier than rock band groupies, these girls want to land them a future husband. I recently saw a picture of Red Sox Pitcher Jon Lester's girlfriend pre-Jon and she was not cute. Cut the world series, and she looks great. She lost like 40 pounds, no joke. A girls gotta do what a girls gotta do to be a trophy wife.

Celebrity Diet Gossip: Blake Lively, Nikki Hilton, Jessica Simpson

This week in celebrities and diet...

Nikki Hilton: Has the more quiet Hilton sister lost too much weight? Now that Nicole Richie is gaining baby weight, there has to be a new skinny celeb for the gossip magazines to write about, and accuse of having an eating disorder, right? Well, Nicole could be media savvy learning a thing or two from big sis, Paris, who reportedly gains and loses weight to draws media attention, gossip, photos from the paparazzi. Check it out for yourself, what do you think?

Now that Writers Guild is on strike, which of your favorite TV show's is in jeopardy? I took a look into what would happen if the problems are not quickly resolved. My new guilty pleasure is Gossip Girl. One of the stars, Blake Lively, is a fabulous role model, take a look at her healthy body image as well as how Lost's Evangeline Lilly stays looking good.

And lastly, infamous yo-yo dieter Jessica Simpson is looking like she fell off the 5-factor diet bandwagon. You decide for yourself. She also sounds off on how she thinks "Boston Boys" are cute. I want J.Simp to stay away from my city. Step Away from Bean-town, Simpson, or else!

Nikke Hilton Weight Loss Diet, The New Nicole?

Just when you thought that super skinny was out, it turns out Nikki Hilton is a laggard (a little bit college vocab for you all). Gasp! The diet diva remembered something from an econ class sophomore year of college... A laggard is the last person to jump on the bandwagon basically (it's suppose to refer to new technology but whatever, pop culture trends work just as well in my book). Here is a recent photo of her. Her knees just look bony and awkward. Yuck! Paris looks better than her (body wise). Bethenny Frankel told me in an interview once that the Hilton's don't diet. They eat what they want but just enough until they are full, like a few bites of cheese burger, never the entire thing. It looks like little sis has applied this to her salads now as well.

Here is another pic from Halloween. What do you guys think? Does Nikki need to add pounds to her small frame? If anyone hears that she is on a special diet let me know, and I'll post it for ya'll. The only info that came up on google was stuff that I wrote about!

Writers Strike! TV Stars We Will Miss Seeing Their Bodies

Now that writers are on strike, you may be missing out on your favorite scripted TV shows in the very near future (This may or may not include my former fav The Hills). To pay my respects to the shows I desperately do not want to go on hiatus as a result of the strike, here is a little diet dirt on the stars:

Gossip Girl: I am obsessed. Last week was a rerun, and now I am in withdrawal. Tonight is going to be 2-hours long! That's like a freaking movie! One of my favorite characters is played by Blake Lively. I first noticed this natural blonde beauty in "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants." She played a soccer player (I played back in HS) and she totally looked the part! She had strong muscular thighs, and oozed sex appeal with her long voluptuous hair. I personally think she is a fabulous role model for the demographic that this show is aimed for. She looks healthy and seems to have a warm bubbly personality.

Well, looks like I'm safe for a little while longer, I just read this on
Most of this fall’s more successful scripted shows are relatively safe at least through the end of the year, since networks have already ordered 13 episodes of many new series. The CW’s hit fall show "Gossip Girl" has enough scripts already written to take the series into the new year, according to network spokesperson Paul McGuire. How the strike will affect next fall’s new lineup of shows remains to be seen. If the strike were to last a few months and creep into the upcoming pilot season (which begins in February), the networks would definitely find themselves with a lack of new scripted shows for next season.

I'm sorry to report that shows like "Lost" and "24" that will be debuting new episodes mid season, only have about 8 episodes. I don't really watch either, but I have a roommate that is VERY anxious for the return of Lost. What will happen, they air only 8 new eps and keep the audience on the edge of their seats (consequently a little PO'ed) or not air the episodes at all (consequently, infuriating their audience)? Evangeline Lilly, who plays Kate on Lost, has an amazing body. Here are a few exerps from an interview with Self Magazine:
What other people would regard as my good eating habit is actually a terrible addiction. I'm obsessed with dried organic mangoes. They're so bloody good, but they are so terrible to eat in large quantities. I just can't stop myself!... I would say sleep is my number-one health tip. I don't usually like to take naps or go to bed early, but I'm training myself to do that. I sleep eight hours a night. Water is up there, too; it's at like 1.5 on the list, not even number 2.... I live in a small town, so I walk or ride my bike everywhere. I used to be more of the type of person who separated exercise from my lifestyle. Now, if I don't have to drive my car, I never will.

Lilly is often photographed practicing what she preaches, like running/biking around Hawaii as well as surfing, her favorite past time which we have seen has given Cameron Diaz a killer bod as well.
I was going into waves that even my girlfriends, who'd been surfing for 10 years, wouldn't go into alone. I would just see a wave, grab my board and come back bloody and scraped up from coral. I ended up going to photo shoots with scratches all over my calves and shins and feet!

Lastly, one of my favorite shows is "One Tree Hill." The four main women from last season, Payton (Hillary Burton), Brooke (Sophia Bush), Haylie (Bethany Joy Lenz) and Rachel (Daneel Harris) are non-stick scary skinny but healthy and hot. Please oh please bring this show back!!!!
