Shape magazine this month is featuring an article on "The Sexiest Bodies in Hollywood." Will we agree with their top picks? Are their "secrets" actually secrets or have they been plastered and reworded in every health/tabloid magazine? Let's take a look shall we...
First up in cover girl Ali Larter, 31. You may know her from the NBC hit show, "Heroes" or as I prefer, that girl who we all saw in the whip cream bikini (Varsity Blues). Her "secret" is finding exercise that works for her body. She loves to run or go for hikes with her dog. I'm not sure this is a secret because she is telling the entire world, and I don't think running or hiking is a secret at all. I run to stay in shape, Lauren Conrad hikes in the Hollywood hills to stay in shape. In fact, I'm pretty sure this is your standard fitness tip but whatevs.
Jenny McCarthy, 35: Her secret is "a healthy well balanced diet- no fads!- with plenty of fruit (like watermelon), protein and carbs." This is funny to me because Jenny is a spokesperson for Weight Watchers. It's not exactly your typical fad diet, but I think it IS her secret because she isn't telling it. Yeah she eats a well balanced diet with the guidance of weight watchers. That is your secret Jenny McCarthy.
Charlize Theron, 32: Her secret is having six small meals a day and never depriving herself. Here we have a common practice that isn't really a secret but is interesting because not that many people do the small six meal thing. Not many people have the will power to stop after consuming 200 calories for lunch. Not depriving herself is kind of lame because don't we all say that? If we never deprived ourselves, I think we would be a little bit heavier.
Eva Longoria Parker, 32: She eats a hearty, protein packed breakfast and indulging in chocolate chip cookies and pizza once or twice a week. She does eat a big breakfast. She has told reporters that she eats like 3 breakfasts because "Desperate" starts filming so early in the morning. Eating cookies and pizza isn't a secret. A real secret would be how many slices of pizza, how many bites of the cookie, what kind of cookie, what kind of pizza... get my drift? I don't think anyone will read this and say, "Ohhh, so if I eat pizza and cookies once or twice a week, I can still look like her?"
Geri Halliwell, 35: Her secret is that she eats three fiber-rich meals a day, chock-full of fruit and vegetables. This reveals that she is a heart portioner. She likes to eat a lot of volume without adding calories. She also reveals that, "When I turned 30, I stopped trying to control things. I stopped trying to be perfect all the itme. I eat to be health now rather than to be thin." I think this is a good quote. How much truth is hold is questionable but positive regardless.
Rihanna, 20: He secret is that she exercises with a trainer 3x a week. Her priorities are her legs and abs, but she likes her arms too. If you ask me this is probably a secret should keep. If her agents find out all she does is work out 3x a week they will probably ask her to put a little more effort into it. For normal people with real jobs, this is realistic and ideal but for celebrities it seems a little weak in my opinion. Let's go Rihanna, pick up the pace!
Jessica Biel, 25: Her secret is mixing up workouts and giving her body a break two days a week. She enjoys recreational sports instead of spending all her time burning calories in a gym. I like J.Biel. I believe her on this one but also, I don't think it's really a secret, more like common knowledge for the typical pop culture junkie if you ask me.
Hilary Swank, 33: She runs two to three times a week and Pilates 3x a week. For Hilary exercise is a big stress reliever, which is why she probably really does enjoy working out 6 times a week. I feel like this is sort of secret.
Gwen Stefani, 38: I don't want to read her secret because I know she is obsessed with working out, but lets see what she has to say... She works out every day, going to the gym, lifting weights, and even doing a little boxing. Case closed, I win. Stefani has a sick body, but she works hard for it. Does her training regimen fall under the secret category, no because I called it before I read it. If I know it, how can it be a secret, I'm just a blogger?
Cameron Diaz, 35: She works out 5 days a week at home and at the gym, doing 30 mins on the elliptical and 30 mins of light weights and mat Pilates. I'll give Cameron the benefit of the doubt. I think this is what she does, and if people have a similar body type, this might work with a healthy diet.
Jennifer Aniston, 39: Shape says that her secret to a sexy body is 80 minutes of Budokan, a combination of martial arts, power yoga and mediation, twice a week. Shape doesn't mention that she is a frequent jogger. I know this and you probably do too because the stalkerazzi frequently snaps photos of her en route. Aniston says, "You're darned if you're too thin and you're damned if you're too heavy. According to the press, I've been both. It's impossible to satisfy everyone and I suggest we stop trying." She just won major points in my book! I couldn't agree more with her however, I would say according to You Tube in my own personal experience....
Scarlett Johansson, 23: She eats a low-carb diet consisting of lean proteins and lots of salad. This is a secret because not many people admit they restrict their carbs these days. Weird, but whatever works for your body type.
In conclusion, the road to achieving a sexy Hollywood body has many paths. Not everyone is built the same so why are we taking their "secrets"? What is your secret?
